Peter Friedrich Mengel

Peter Friedrich Mengel (born March 21, 1884 at Gut Schwiggerow in Mecklenburg ; † June 6, 1967 in Berlin ) was a German administrative lawyer.

Life

Peter Friedrich Mengel was the grandson of the Rostock Fontane friend Friedrich Witte . He attended high schools in Bromberg and the Friedrich-Wilhelms-Gymnasium (Posen) . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the Philipps University in Marburg and the Christian Albrechts University in Kiel . In Marburg he became a member of the Corps Hasso-Nassovia in 1904 . During the First World War he served as a lieutenant in the Queen Elisabeth Guard Grenadier Regiment No. 3 . After passing the state examination and subsequent legal traineeship, Mengel was assigned to the district administrator of the Oberbarnim district in Freienwalde as a government assessor in 1913 . From 1919 he held a temporary position, and from April 23, 1920 onwards, he was the district administrator of the Oberbarnim district based in Freienwalde . He was elected Dike Captain of the Oderbruch on November 15, 1923 and held this office until 1940.

In the course of the Prussian strike in the summer of 1932, the Papen cabinet initially appointed him Vice-President of the Upper Presidium of the Province of Saxony . In 1932/33 he worked in the same function at the senior presidium of the province of Brandenburg . Deposed by the National Socialists in 1933, he was general director of the Brandenburg fire society from 1934. Mengel was close to those involved on July 20, 1944. From 1948 to 1952 he was an administrative judge and director in Berlin.
