Peter Hanker (2018)

Peter Hanker (born February 27, 1964 in Biebertal ) is a German bank manager and specialist book author . He is the spokesman for the board of the Volksbank Mittelhessen .

Vocational training ∙ studies ∙ career

After graduating from high school in 1983, Hanker completed an apprenticeship as a banker at Volksbank Heuchelheim at the Gießen Liebig School . He then completed a degree in business administration at the Gießen-Friedberg University of Applied Sciences (today: Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen).

Professionally, he initially went through various positions in banking. In addition to his work at Bayerische Vereinsbank , between 1991 and 1997 he gained managerial responsibility in the areas of interest rate derivatives and bank support at DG Bank (today: DZ BANK ). In 1997 he was appointed to the board of directors of Berliner Volksbank , before moving to the board of directors of Volksbank Gießen in 2000 and thus back to his home region of Central Hesse. Since September 1, 2001 he has been the spokesman for the board.

Through numerous mergers, which Hanker played a leading role, he formed the Volksbank Mittelhessen, trading under its current name, into the third largest Volksbank in Germany. Among the milestones in the merger history under his leadership are the mergers with the Wetterauer Volksbank (2003) to form the Volksbank Gießen-Friedberg, with the Marburger Bank (2005) to form the Volksbank Mittelhessen and the Volksbank Wetzlar-Weilburg (2009).

While serving on the board, he received his doctorate in economics (Dr. rer. Pol .; “cum laude”) at the University of Siegen in 2006 . He wrote his dissertation on " The relevance of information and information policy in the cooperative banking sector ".

He lives in Giessen and Berlin .
