The Volksbank Heuchelheim eG is a cooperative bank with the business area in the district of Giessen and the Lahn-Dill district . The offices are in the communities of Heuchelheim an der Lahn , Lahnau , Biebertal and Hohenahr . The bank belongs to the Genossenschaftsverband - Association of Regions and, above that, the Federal Association of German Volksbanks and Raiffeisenbanks .

history

The bank was founded on January 22nd, 1863 by 63 Heuchelheimers as Creditverein Heuchelheim . Initially, the savings and loan business was operated. It is one of the oldest German cooperatives, which were founded on the model of Hermann Schulze-Delitzsch . By 1913 the number of members had increased to 310. The balance sheet total in 1913 was 1,312,708 gold marks .

In 1918 it was converted into a cooperative with limited liability. Previously the members had unlimited liability. The German inflation from 1914 to 1923 damaged the bank very much. The opening balance of January 1, 1924 shows a balance sheet total of only 1,291 Rentenmarks . With the General Assembly on 10 March 1934 took place DC circuit of the bank. The board of directors and the supervisory board were newly appointed in accordance with the determination of the district farmer's leader. In 1939 the first bank building was built.

With the currency reform in 1948, the balance sheet total was reduced from 8,900,000 Reichsmarks to 612,027 German marks . In 1958 the name was changed to Genossenschaftsbank Heuchelheim , and in 1975 to Volksbank Heuchelheim .
