Peter Helander (born December 4, 1951 in Stockholm ) is a former Swedish ice hockey player who played for the Los Angeles Kings in the National Hockey League from 1971 to 1983 .

Career

Peter Helander began his career as an ice hockey player at Rönnskärs IF , for which he was active from 1971 to 1974 in Division 2 , which was still second at the time . The defender then played for Skellefteå AIK for eight years - initially for one year in Division 1 and from the 1975/76 season in the newly founded Elitserien . With the Skellefteå AIK he won the Swedish championship title in the 1977/78 season . In 1981 and 1982 he was elected to the Swedish World All-Star Team. In the 1982 NHL Entry Draft , he was selected in the eighth round as a total of 153 players by the Los Angeles Kings , for whom he prepared a goal in seven games in the 1982/83 season in the National Hockey League . At the same time he played for the Kings farm team , the New Haven Nighthawks , in the American Hockey League and scored one goal and three assists in nine games. He then ended his career at the age of 31.

International

For Sweden , Helander took part in the World Championships in 1981 and 1982 . He was also in his country's squad for the Canada Cup in 1981 . His greatest success with the national team was winning the silver medal at the 1981 World Cup.
