Peter Hess (* December 1709 in Frankfurt am Main , † 1782 in Kassel ) was a German gem cutter and music artist.

He was the son of the Frankfurt gem cutter Johann Benedikt Hess the Elder. J. (1672–1736), grandson of the glass cutter Johann Benedikt Hess the Elder, who also worked in Frankfurt . Ä. (1636–1674) and great-grandson of the glass cutter Johannes Hess, who came to Frankfurt from Bohemia .

He learned his art from his father, whose workshop he continued after his death, and earned a very good reputation for his intaglia and cameos . 1746 he was appointed Wilhelm VIII. , The Regent and later Landgrave of Hesse-Kassel , by Giovanni Francesco Guerniero started from colorful gemstones crafted mosaic panel with the city of Sankt Goar and the castles Rheinfels and Katz to complete, and moved to Kassel .
