Peter König (judge)

Peter König (born September 12, 1956 in Munich ) is a German legal scholar and a judge at the Federal Court of Justice since January 2009 .

Career

On April 15, 1985, he began his career in the judiciary as a prosecutor in the Judge ratio on trial in the prosecutor's office in Munich I Regional Court . As early as 1985 he moved to the Bavarian Ministry of Justice , initially as a member of the government for employment. In 1987 he was appointed to the government council for life. From 1988 to 1989 he worked as a judge at the Munich District Court I. He then returned to the Ministry of Justice. In 1992 he was promoted to government director and in 1997 to ministerial councilor. König received his doctorate on the subject of criminal organ trafficking in 1998 at the University of Munich. In 2001 and 2002 he was the presiding judge of a criminal chamber at the Munich II district court , but then returned to the Ministry of Justice as a ministerial advisor. Here he made a name for himself as an expert in criminal law. In 2008 he was elected judge at the Federal Court of Justice and began his service there in January 2009 in the 5th Criminal Senate , which is based in Leipzig .

Since July 23, 2007 he has been honorary professor for criminal law at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich .

König edited the 13th and 14th editions (2002/2006) of the commentary on the law on administrative offenses published by Verlag CH Beck , which was justified by Erich Göhler, and has been the editor of the commentary on road traffic law published by Peter Hentschel since the 39th edition (2007) .
