Peter Kowatsch

Peter Kowatsch (* 1965 in Wels ) is an Austrian freelance artist , cultural manager and artistic director .

Life

After attending the commercial academy in Wels, which Kowatsch graduated with the Matura , he completed training in classical pantomime in Vienna.

In 1986 he was involved in founding the theater “Die Menschen”, in which he was a member of the ensemble until 1990 . In 1991 he and a partner founded the pantomime performance duo "Plus Minus Pantomime in Perfektion" and performed at the Theater an der Wien , Raimundtheater , Ronacher , the Wiener Stadthalle , the Museumsquartier Wien , Wiener Metropol , Theater Akzent , and Landestheater Linz or in the Bregenz Festival Hall .

Engagements have taken him and his partner to Amsterdam , Berlin , Dubai , Copenhagen , Lisbon , London , Los Angeles , Madrid , Milan , Montreal , Moscow , New York , Paris , Shanghai , Stockholm , Toronto , Venice and Zurich .

In 2006, Kowatsch founded the “Kulturverein WAKS” and has been the organizer and director of the annual “Welser Arkadenhof Culture Summer” ever since.

  • 2010: Member of the advisory board in the Upper Austrian cultural advisory board
  • 2011: Deputy chairman of the cultural advisory board of the city of Wels
  • 2013: Chairman of the advisory board in the Upper Austrian regional cultural advisory board

  • 2008: “Lederer Award” Art / Catfish category
  • 2009: “Praktiker Award” - special merits for a flourishing catfish
  • 2010: Culture medal of the city of Wels in gold
  • 2015: Culture Medal of the Province of Upper Austria
