Peter Kugler

Peter Kugler (* 1948 ) is a German anatomist and emeritus professor of anatomy at the University of Würzburg .

Life

Kugler studied human medicine at the University of Regensburg and the Technical University of Munich from 1971 to 1977 and received his doctorate in 1978 in the field of "Biology and Preclinical Medicine" at the University of Regensburg on the subject of "Histological and histochemical examinations of the testes, epididymis and spermatic ducts of the rooster (Gallus domesticus). ". He then worked as a scientific assistant at the Institute for Anatomy and Cell Biology at the Julius Maximilians University in Würzburg until his habilitation on the subject of "About angiotensin-degrading aminopeptidases in the rat kidney" . In 1982 he was appointed to a C2 professorship there. In 1994 he was offered a C3 professorship. In 2014, Kugler retired and retired .

Act

Until his retirement, Kugler taught at the University of Würzburg and received several prizes, including the “Golden Reflexhammer” lecture award from the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg in the winter semester 1988/89 and in the summer semester 1989, and the “Preis for good teaching 2000 ”by the Free State of Bavaria and in 2005 the“ Albert Koelliker Teaching Prize ”from the Medical Faculty of the University of Würzburg. In the same year he was made an honorary member of the Medical Academy in Łódź . In his research, Kugler mainly dealt with the importance of the neurotransmitter glutamate in the central nervous system and published over 90 original papers and review articles.

Trivia

In 2013, Kugler was in the media at times when a suspicion of plagiarism arose against his former doctoral student Hubert Haderthauer, the husband of Christine Haderthauer , then Bavarian State Minister for Labor and Social Affairs, Family and Women . But this was not confirmed.
