Peter Löhr (editor)

Peter Löhr (born June 21, 1937 in Hanover ; † May 12, 2018 ) was a German lawyer , author and chronicler , editor-in-chief and amateur photographer .

Life

Peter Löhr was a descendant of a family from Franconia , but was born in 1937 in the Hanover district of Kirchrode . He experienced the Second World War in Bavaria, but passed his Abitur in the post-war period at the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gymnasium .

Löhr went to Würzburg to study business administration - and later became a Dr. rer. pol is doing his PhD. After a few years as an auditor at Treuarbeit in Hanover, he switched to the Lower Saxony Medical Association in 1975 .

He was married and had two sons.

In 1973 the couple chose Arpke , then the Burgdorf district, as their place of residence, where Löhr soon made a name for himself as a local chronicle. In the town he also edited the parish letter of the parish Zum Heiligen Kreuz for decades , worked as a reporter, promoter and critical companion of the community life and also as church leader for 16 years . Löhr developed a particular weakness for the storks that brood on the church : he climbed the church tower well into old age to take photos of the stork families, which were often also printed in the local edition of the Hannoversche Allgemeine Zeitung .

Löhr was also involved in the Heimatbund Niedersachsen (HBN) for decades . In 1988 he took over the editorial office of the Heimatbund newspaper Heimatland . Journal for local history, nature conservation, cultural care . His contributions were characterized by “accuracy in editing the texts” as well as by working “with solid scientific methods”. He was finally able to encourage Heinz-Siegfried Strelow , who was initially still young, to collaborate as an editor.

From 1993 to 1995 Löhr also acted on the board of the Heimatbund as its secretary.

Honors

In 2012, Peter Löhr was awarded the Golden Badge of Honor at the annual general meeting of the Heimatbund Lower Saxony.
