Peter Landsberg

Peter Landsberg (born December 15, 1938 in Essen ) is a German manager. He was best known for his many years at Standard Elektrik Lorenz (SEL) and Alcatel SEL , and from 1992 to 1996 as CEO of the company.

Life

After finishing school, Peter Landsberg began training as a technical draftsman at Friedrich Krupp AG . He then studied mechanical engineering and production technology at the Siegen University of Applied Sciences. An internship of ten weeks took him to Turkey .

He started his professional career at Standard Elektrik Lorenz AG (SEL) in 1962 at the company's headquarters in Dortmund . There he was production manager until 1968, after which he moved to the "Business Administration" department at the company's headquarters in Stuttgart - Zuffenhausen . From 1972 he worked there for two years as head of projects for electronic switching systems. In 1974 he took over the management of the switching systems division and deputy plant management in Stuttgart. In 1981 he was first plant manager in Mannheim until he took over the overall management of the "Switching Systems" division from 1988, from which the new "Communication Networks" division emerged by merging with the "Transmission Technology" division in autumn 1994.

As the successor to Gerhard Zeidler , Peter Landsberg became CEO of Alcatel SEL AG in 1992 , which had been formed from the core of Standard Elektrik Lorenz around communications technology and which had incorporated the name of its parent company Alcatel in its own name. He was replaced in August 1996 by Roland Mecklinger . After another six months as Mecklinger's deputy, Landsberg left the company at the end of February 1997.

Peter Landsberg was co-founder and chairman of the board of "BW Connected eV", an economic initiative to promote the innovation and high-tech location of Baden-Württemberg. He was also a member of the Böblingen district council for ten years and was involved in the merger of the Volksbanks in the region.
