André-Gilbert Schmucki (born January 31, 1967 in St. Gallen ; † July 6, 2019 in Lucerne ) was a Swiss artist , painter , graphic artist and photographer .

Life

Schmucki studied at the F + F School for Art and Media Design in Zurich in 1990 and at the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences in 1997 . He had his first exhibitions in the 1990s in Lucerne and Zurich galleries, and for the first time in 1997 in the Lucerne Art Museum in the annual exhibition of Central Swiss Artists. From 2001 to 2019 Schmucki worked alongside his artistic work at the street inspectorate of the city of Lucerne.

In his pictures, Schmucki used a material mix of photos , (edited) newspaper and video clippings . They are often dominated by rather dark colors, and scenes are often depicted that appear both realistic and indefinite. His work dealt with the unconscious and dreamlike .
