Peter Lewis (born February 1, 1990 in Newcastle ) is a former Australian track cyclist .

Athletic career

In 2007 and 2008, Peter Lewis was Australian junior team sprint champion, in 2007 with Luke Davison and Paul Fellows, and in 2008 with Fellows and Scott Law . In 2008 he won the silver medal in this discipline together with Law and Ben Sanders at the Junior World Track Championships in Cape Town . Nationally he was third in the junior championship in Keirin. In 2009 he was third at the Australian elite track championships in team sprint (with Fellows and Andrew Taylor ) and in 2010 (also with Fellows and Taylor) and 2011 runner-up (with Taylor and Mitchell Bullen)). In 2011 he was also third in the Oceanic Cycling Championships in Keirin and second in the team sprint (with Daniel Ellis and Jason Niblett ).

In 2012 Lewis won the silver medal in the Keirin at the Track Cycling World Cup in Glasgow , behind the German Stefan Bötticher . In 2015 he was Australian champion in team sprint with Mitchell Bullen and Jamie Green . The following year he ended his cycling career after his hopes of participating in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro were dashed due to poor performance.
