Peter Zvi Malkin

Peter Zvi Malkin ( Hebrew צביקה מלחין); (* May 27, 1927 in Pilgramshain , Lower Silesia Province (today Żółkiewka, Strzegom municipality ); † March 1, 2005 in New York ) was an agent of the Mossad . His best-known action was the arrest of Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann in Argentina and his transport to Israel .

Life

In 1936 his parents moved with Malkin to Palestine as part of the Aliyah . His sister was murdered in a concentration camp .

As a youth he joined an underground Jewish movement in Palestine and was recruited by the Mossad as an explosives expert after the establishment of the State of Israel .

His best-known action was the arrest of Nazi criminal Adolf Eichmann in Argentina on May 11, 1960. He was brought to Israel and sentenced to death by a court there. Malkin also managed to track down the high-ranking Soviet spy Israel Beer .

Most recently he lived with his wife in New York and Tel Aviv .

Film adaptations

Malkin's search for Eichmann has been the subject of at least two films. The 1996 television film The Man Who Chased Eichmann is based on his own book and was played by Arliss Howard . Oscar Isaac played the leading role in Operation Finale (2018) .
