Peter Maxey

Peter Malcolm Maxey , CMG (born December 26, 1930 - October 23, 2014 ) was a British diplomat who was ambassador to the German Democratic Republic between 1981 and 1984 .

Life

Peter Malcolm Maxey completed after the visit, which was founded in 1552 Bedford School studying at Corpus Christi College of the University of Cambridge . After joining the diplomatic service in 1953, he found employment at numerous missions abroad such as in the Soviet Union , Finland , Sri Lanka and permanent missions to the United Nations in Geneva . In 1972 he moved to the Ministry for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs ( Foreign and Commonwealth Office ) , where he was initially one of the inspectors of the diplomatic service until 1973 and then from 1974 to 1977 head of the unit for the United Nations. After that, he served from 1977 to 1978 as a Counselor at the Embassy in Ireland and from 1978 to 1981 as Assistant Undersecretary for the rating bar (Assistant Under-Secretary (Assessments Staff)) in the Cabinet Office ( Cabinet Office ) , the central authority of the British government, whose The task is to support the Prime Minister and the Cabinet with its ministers in government work.

In 1981 Maxey replaced Peter Martin Foster as ambassador to the German Democratic Republic and remained at his post until 1984, when Timothy Everard succeeded him there. Most recently, he became Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations in New York City in 1984 and remained in that position until he retired in 1986.

Peter Maxey was married twice. His marriage in 1955 resulted in two sons and two daughters. His second marriage to Christine Irene Spooner remained childless.
