Peter Meister (sculptor)
Peter Meister (born August 13, 1934 in Zollbrück , † March 9, 1999 in Zurich ) was a Swiss sculptor , sculptor and draftsman.
biography
From 1950 to 1954 Peter Meister trained as a sculptor with the restorer Willi Stadler in Zurich and at the same time attended courses at the Zurich School of Applied Arts . He then continued his education at the Académie de la Grande Chaumière in Paris and at the University of Fine Arts in Berlin .
In 1959 he took part in the founding of the symposium of European sculptors in St. Margarethen (Burgenland, Austria). 1965–1985 he stayed in Pietrasanta , Toscana. From 1973 to 1975 he taught at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan and from 1980 to 1982 at the Zurich School of Applied Arts.
In 1969 Peter Meister created the Othmar Schoeck Fountain in Zurich. The fountain made of Italian marble is a gift from the Suisa (Swiss Society for Rights to Musical Works) to the city of Zurich on the occasion of the inauguration of the new Suisa building. Another two fountains in Zurich by Peter Meister date from 1986: the “Brunnen-Wibli” and the “Sihl-Ungeheuer”.
