Peter Neve (architect)
Peter Neve (born May 31, 1906 in Kiel , † September 25, 1985 in Hamburg ) was a German architect .
Life
Neve received his training at the arts and crafts school in Kiel, the state civil engineering school in Rendsburg and the high school for civil engineering in Hamburg. From 1927 he worked in the offices of renowned architects such as Karl Schneider , Robert Friedmann and Paul Frank before he founded his own office together with Herbert Sprotte in 1935 . At first they mainly built apartment buildings, but after the outbreak of the Second World War they were hired by the Office for Military Operations under the direction of Konstanty Gutschow .
After the end of the war, Sprotte & Neve were entrusted with the provisional management of the Hamburg clearing office. Later, they again mainly built apartment buildings, including the housing estate on Alten Teichweg in Hamburg-Dulsberg (1952/53) , which at the time was considered pioneering . With its light yellow brick façade, it was inspired by Scandinavian models and at the same time committed to the ideal of the " relaxed city " of the time. The reconstruction of Kiel Castle (1959–1965) and the new construction of the Luther Church there (1956–58) attracted national attention .
After Herbert Sprotte's death in 1962, Neve initially ran the office alone for a few years before taking on Wolfgang Nietz and Peter Sigl as new partners in 1970 . Under the new name “Neve + Partner” they subsequently designed the shopping centers in Jenfeld (1970–73) and in Große Bergstrasse in Altona (1972–76). In 1978 Neve left the office, which after Alf Prasch joined the firm initially continued under the name "nps" (Nietz, Prasch, Sigl) and now operates under a different partnership as "nps tchoban voss".
In addition to his work as an architect, Neve has been on the board of the Association of German Architects in Hamburg since 1945 ; Between 1955 and 1975 he was also a member of the Hamburg State Planning Committee and the State Planning Council Hamburg / Schleswig-Holstein.
