Peter Paul Wiplinger (born June 25, 1939 in Haslach ) is an Austrian writer and artistic photographer .

Life

Wiplinger was born in Haslach in Upper Austria in 1939 as the tenth child of a merchant family and brother of Fridolin Wiplinger . In his youth he attended, among other things, the Episcopal Gymnasium Petrinum . He then studied theater studies , German and philosophy . Since 1960 he has lived in Vienna as a freelance writer and photographer . As a member of the international and Austrian PEN clubs , the Austrian League for Human Rights , the documentation archive of the Austrian resistance and the IG authors authors , he has received numerous prizes and awards. In 2006 he was awarded the title of Professor honoris causa .

So far he has published around 45 books, some of which have been translated into more than 20 languages. His works include mainly political essays, love poems and artistic photos .

His brother was the concert pianist Nikolaus Wiplinger (1937–2018).
