Peter Röske
Peter Röske (born December 27, 1940 in Chemnitz ; † May 28, 2004 in Berlin ) was a German gallery owner , art dealer , publisher and author .
Life
After studying chemistry at the Technical University of Chemistry in Leuna-Merseburg , Peter Röske first worked at the Leuna chemical site and later in the Berlin Ministry of the Chemical Industry . From an early age he was interested in the fine arts , especially printmaking, and he began to collect graphics. Encouraged by an art professor from the Köpenick Pädagogenclub, he published his first graphic portfolio with graphics by the painter and graphic artist Hans Vent in 1984 under the umbrella of the Pirckheimer Society , using the name Berliner Graphikpresse for the first time .
In 1975 he was a co-founder of the Berlin graphics market. At the annual events in the club of cultural workers "Johannes R. Becher" in Berlin, he got to know numerous artists, with whom he was partly friendly.
In May 1990, Peter Röske and Ekkehard Hellwich started their own business under the name Berliner Graphikpresse . The gallery of the Berliner Graphikpresse initially had its domicile in the Brunnenstrasse in Berlin and can now be found in the Silvio-Meier-Strasse in Berlin-Friedrichshain . The gallery specializes in East German artists and holds art auctions every year .
Since Peter Röske's early death, the gallery of the Berlin graphic press has been run by his daughter Sabine Ulber.
Peter Röske was a member of the Pirckheimer Society.
