Peter Christian Hans Rasmussen (* 16th December 1906 in Hørsholm , † 27. September 1992 ) was a Danish jazz - trombonist and bandleader. Along with Kai Ewans and Leo Mathisen, he was one of the pioneers of Danish jazz.

Live and act

From the 1920s Rasmussen played with Valdemar Eiberg , Erik Tuxen and his cousin Kai Ewans . He later moved to Germany, where he played in Bernard Etté's dance orchestra . He also toured the United States, where he met Miff Mole . In 1931 he returned to Denmark and played a. a. with Kai Julians Orchester, from 1932 to 1936 with Erik Tuxens Orchester and from 1936 to 1943 with Kai Ewans. During Benny Carter's visit to Denmark in 1936 he played with this. He also accompanied the singer Adelaide Hall .

From 1943 until the 1970s Rasmussen worked as a freelance musician for the Danish public radio as an orchestra conductor ( Radiosymfoniorkestret København ), program speaker and producer .

Rasmussen released recordings on the Tono and Polyphon record labels. A representative selection of his music can be found on the CD compilation Dansk guldalder jazz , Vol. 1 & 2.
