Peter Reulein (* 1966 in Frankfurt am Main ) is a German composer and Catholic church musician .

Life

Peter Reulein studied church music at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts with Wolfgang Schäfer and Uwe Gronostay (choir direction). After completing his postgraduate studies in organ improvisation with Daniel Roth , he won several national and international competitions in this discipline, such as the second prize and the audience award at the 1993 International Competition for Organ Improvisation in Schwäbisch Gmünd . He supplemented his choral conducting studies with conducting courses with Eric Ericson and Helmuth Rilling . From 1991 onwards he was a church musician at the Heilig-Geist-Kirche in Frankfurt-Riederwald ; since 2000 he has been cantor at the Liebfrauenkirche in the northern part of Frankfurt's old town , where he directs the vocal ensemble, the Collegium Vocale, the Collegium Musicum and the Capuccinis youth choir . He became known nationwide as the composer of Neuer Geistlicher Lieder , many of them based on texts by Eugen Eckert . Reulein was also the managing director of the working group for church music and youth pastoral care in the diocese of Limburg until 2005 . Since 2002 he has been teaching "liturgical organ playing and improvisation" at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.
