Peter Schmidt (politician)

Peter Schmidt (* 10. October 1945 in Lübeck ) is a Hamburg politician of the CDU and was a member of the Hamburg Parliament .

Life

Schmidt studied law and worked a. a. as managing director . From 1973 to 2012 he was chairman of the CDU local association Sülldorf / Iserbrook and has been chairman of the CDU local association Hamburg-Nienstedten since 2013. He was elected to the Altona district assembly in 1974 , but resigned his mandate after a few weeks because of the simultaneous election to the Hamburg citizenship . He was a member of this until 1993. There he was for his parliamentary group in the Committee for Science and Art, later for Science and Research, the Budget Committee, the Health Committee and the Georgswerder Parliamentary Inquiry Committee. Expert spokesman for the CDU parliamentary group for research and technology, for location issues and for Europe and international relations.

  • Joined the Junge Union in 1964, 1969 district chairman of JU Blankenese, 1970–1977 district chairman of the JU Altona / Elbvororte and member of the JU state board Hamburg. Member of the CDU state board from 1972–1996.
  • 1994–1996 executive state board member, responsible for science policy and media policy.
  • 1982–1986 member of the CDU Federal Committee for Research and Technology
  • 1986–1993 member of the advisory group of the B-Länder at the Federal Research Minister
  • 1992 Foundation of the "Hanse Brücke" Hamburg Society for the Maintenance of Town Partnerships eV With this organization humanitarian aid and political advice in St. Petersburg (1992–1996)
  • 1997 founding of the “Hamburg outcry for civil courage”. Citizens' initiative against violence in public spaces.
  • 2008–2012 Chairman of the Lichtwark Society and President of the "Die Insel Artists Club"
  • since 2003 member and speaker and since 2013 member of the board of the Hamburg authors' association
  • Member of the jury of the Pinneberg District Culture Prize since 2014 (today: Drostei Prize)
  • since 2015 member of the jury of the Walter Kempowski Literature Prize
  • co-opted since 2016. Member of the jury of the Hannelore Greve Literature Prize
  • since 2017 member of the jury of the Wolfgang-Klähn-Preis, art prize of the Hamburg craft
