Peter Spangenberg

Paul Gerhard Andreas Peter Spangenberg (born November 3, 1934 in Unseburg in the Magdeburger Börde ; † April 27, 2019 in Achtrup ) was a retired German Protestant pastor and author .

Life

Peter Spangenberg came from a pastor's family and grew up in the Magdeburg Börde. At the age of 14 his family moved to Westphalia. He graduated from high school in Dülmen and then studied Protestant theology in Bethel , Münster and Göttingen and became a pastor .

After his ordination in 1962, Spangenberg worked as a pastor in several congregations. a. as pastor at the old town Nicolaikirche in Bielefeld . From 1979 to 1996 he was the parish pastor of the Evangelical Lutheran congregation in Leck , which owns the 800-year-old St. Willehad Church in the center of the village, and for 18 years he was a lecturer in Protestant theology at the University of Flensburg . In over 40 years he wrote a large number of books on theology, meditation, fairy tales, fables, songs, plays, detective novels, poetry, transcriptions of biblical texts, prayers, illustrated books, children's Bible, sonnets, short stories and children's books. Numerous books have been translated into other languages. He last lived in Achtrup, a municipality in the North Friesland district south of the Danish border in a rural area. Since his retirement he has been an honorary ombudsman for children and young people. Spangenberg was married and had three children. He died in Achtrup at the end of April 2019.
