Peter Wilhelm (born November 1, 1959 in Essen ) is a German writer .
Life
Peter Wilhelm is married, has two children and lives with his family in Edingen-Neckarhausen near Heidelberg.
The psychologist has been the author of numerous magazine and web articles since 1975 and works as a blogger , author , YouTuber and publicist . From 1984 to 1986 Peter Wilhelm was head of the data center for the ERC business database in Frankfurt.
He ran a funeral home for ten years, after finishing his job he started the funeral home weblog , which offers answers on the subject of death and burial, as well as anecdotes about the "customers", the bereaved and the deceased themselves. Peter Wilhelm continues to work as an expert in the funeral industry. In this role he is also a regular guest on various television and radio shows.
In his tripod blog , he mainly deals with the topics of multimedia, technology and communication as well as product tests. But satirical family stories also appear here again and again. a. in the volume "To eat here or to take away" were published.
In addition, Peter Wilhelm has been an expert in the field of hearing aids for many years and is editor-in-chief of the German edition of the international meetings magazine, which is published in Nijmegen / Netherlands.

Wilhelm received wide attention as a blogger with the undertaker weblog . For a long time he wrote this under the pseudonym "Undertaker Tom". According to him, this was mainly done in order not to endanger the personal rights of former customers and employees shortly after the end of the job, even if these are constantly changed in information articles or stories. An audio podcast appears regularly on the undertaker weblog in which Peter Wilhelm's voice can be heard. In the scenic audio book production Why Dead Italians Don't Eat Onion Pie , he lends his voice to everyone involved. Furthermore, several books emerged from the subjects of the undertaker weblog.
Peter Wilhelm makes a reference to the undertaker profession in many, but not all, of his works. In his texts he always strives for an instructive core message that brings people closer to the relationships between the areas of funeral, death and mourning in an easy way. For this he uses various art forms. Probably the most important one is the short story. The author wrote and published hundreds of these, many of them in his daily undertaker weblog. In addition, he developed scripts and stage texts from the short stories, some of which are novel-sized. Peter Wilhelm seeks collaboration with artists from other art directions. In his volume “Permit, Undertaker! Stories that dying wrote ”, the Austrian comic artist Nina Ruzicka illustrated the cover image and contributed illustrations to the texts. The volume “To eat here or to take away” was provided with childlike drawings by the illustrator Yukia. One work has also been translated.
Musically supported podcasts and audio book editions of his works are also part of the artist's scope of work. He works closely with the Wuppertal draftsman 'Kumi', who regularly contributes cartoons to Wilhelm's stories.
The radio station Radio Lotte Weimar produced the series “Der Vetter des Gevatter” from Peter Wilhelm's work “May I burn my grandma myself?”, In the individual episodes of which chapters from the book were reproduced in an entertaining way.
Stage adaptations
Wilhelm is also the writing head of the art project Finale, in which actors and a rock band put the author's texts into scene and music in the form of a stage program.
In 2012, the author created the scenic and musical reworking “Salto Postmortale”, which is performed with the Rhine Stream Jazz Band and Jochen Brauer .
The Wasgau Theater regularly plays and reads texts by Peter Wilhelm on stage.
Prizes and awards
The Undertaker weblog was awarded the user prize as the best German weblog by listeners to Deutsche Welle in 2007 as part of the The BOBs competition .
