The Petite rivière de la Baleine ( English Little Whale River ; Cree : Wâpamekustûss ; meaning "small whale river") is a 380 km long river in the Nunavik region in the Canadian province of Québec .

With 15,900 km², the river has the 35th largest river catchment area in Québec.

The river has its origin in the lake Lac Glinel at an altitude of about 450  m . It flows initially in a northerly, later in a predominantly westerly direction through the Canadian Shield in the west of the Labrador Peninsula . There are several rapids along the river. The river flows through the lake area of Lacs Saindon . The lakes Lac D'Iberville , Lac Kaminapiskwasi , Lac Amichinatwayach and Lacs Mollet lie in the catchment area of ​​the river . The most important tributary is the Rivière Boutin , which runs south of the Petite rivière de la Baleine and only flows into it in the lower reaches. The Petite rivière de la Baleine runs in the transition area between the boreal forest area in the south and the tundra in the north.
