Petr Hrubý (born July 16, 1980 in Pardubice ) is a former Czech handball player . The circular runner is 1.87 m tall.

Hrubý started playing handball in his hometown at the age of nine; at the same time he also played table tennis . He first played handball in his hometown and moved to Dukla Prague at the age of 15 . With this club he made his debut in the first Czech league and in 2004 moved to MT Melsungen in the German 2nd handball Bundesliga . In the very first season he rose to the first handball league with the Hessians .

Hrubý moved for the 2008/09 season to the Stralsund handball club (SHV) , which played in the first handball league. In January 2008 he signed a two-year contract that was valid for the first and second Bundesliga. Here he played in the center of the circle and was numbered 22; Because of health problems, he came only too few missions for Stralsund. After the bankruptcy of the Stralsund HV, Petr Hrubý was initially without a club, then moved to the regional division unit Halle and was under contract with ThSV Eisenach in the 2010/11 season . After the season he moved to the second team of MT Melsungen . For the 2017/18 season he switched to the third team of MT Melsungen. After Hrubý last played for the third team in the regional league in the 2019/20 season, he took over the position of assistant coach for MT Melsungen's second team.

Petr Hrubý played 156 international matches for the Czech national team . With the Czech Republic he took part in the European Championships (EM) 2000 and the EM 2002 ; at the 2007 World Cup in Germany, he reached twelfth place with his country. He was part of the national team for the qualifying matches for the 2010 European Championship .

Petr Hrubý learned the trade of a confectioner . He is married and has two sons. His family lives in Pardubice.
