Petr Křička

Petr Křička (born December 4, 1884 in Kelč , † July 25, 1949 in Okarec, now part of Třebíč ) was a Czech scholar, librarian, poet, children's book author and translator from Russian and French ( Anton Pawlowitsch Chekhov , Nikolai Wassiljewitsch Gogol , Mikhail Jurjewitsch Lermontow , Molière ). He was the brother of Jaroslav Křička .
Life
After attending secondary school in Nové Město na Moravě , he studied at the Technical University at the age of seventeen and obtained a doctorate in chemical engineering. From 1906 to 1907 he worked in Paris , where he attended lectures at the Sorbonne . In the First World War he was injured at the beginning. During his recovery period, he wrote his first collection of poems, Šípkový keř , which made him famous after 1916. In the 20s and 30s he worked as a spokesman for the Ministry of Education. During this time he also visited Italy, Germany and France. In 1938 he fell seriously ill with heart disease from which he died 11 years later.
