Petra Maria Meyer

Petra Maria Meyer (born 1958 ) is a German philosopher and theater scholar and professor for cultural and media studies at the Muthesius Academy of Art in Kiel .

Career

Meyer studied German , philosophy and theater studies with Rudolf Heinz , Jochen Hörisch and Erika Fischer-Lichte, among others . She received her doctorate in philosophy at the Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf in 1992 and qualified as a professor in 2000 at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz in theater studies. From 1988 to 2001 she worked as a lecturer, dramaturge and author for the Acoustic Art Studio of the WDR in Cologne. From 2001 to 2003 Meyer represented C3 and C4 professorships for theater, film and television studies at the University of Cologne and in 2003 the chair for theater studies at the Johannes Gutenberg University in Mainz. Since 2004 she has been teaching a professorship for cultural and media studies at the Institute for Art, Design and Media Studies at Muthesius Art College in Kiel. From 2004 to 2008 she was the director of the »Forum for Interdisciplinary Studies« at the Muthesius Art College.

Meyer represents a media studies oriented towards cultural studies. Her research focuses on intermediality , staging , media philosophy , listening culture and acoustic design.
