Petra Wimmer (born December 13, 1965 in Wels , Upper Austria ) is an Austrian politician of the Social Democratic Party of Austria (SPÖ). She has been a member of the National Council since November 9, 2017 .

Life

After primary school in Thalheim near Wels and secondary school in the Wels district of Pernau, Petra Wimmer attended the commercial academy in Wels from 1980 to 1982 . She then completed a commercial apprenticeship, which she completed in 1985. She then worked as an accountant until 2002 . From 2003 to 2012 she was a social worker at the social housing service in Wels, and from 2012 she was the managing director there.

politics

Petra Wimmer has been a party member of the SPÖ since 2007, from the municipal council and mayoral elections in Upper Austria in 2015 she was a member of the municipal council of the city of Wels. She is the deputy district party chairwoman of the SPÖ Wels-Stadt, where she also acts as the deputy chairwoman of the SPÖ women and chairwoman of the Gartenstadt-Wimpassing section. In the 2017 National Council election , she ran as a candidate for Franz Kirchgatterer in the Hausruckviertel regional constituency ; on November 9, 2017, she was sworn in as a member of the Austrian National Council . In the 2019 National Council election, she ran in first place in the Hausruckviertel regional constituency, followed by Doris Margreiter . In November 2019, she was elected mayor candidate for the 2021 election at the city delegates' assembly of the SPÖ Wels. In the SPÖ parliamentary club , she acts as the area spokeswoman for the family area in the 27th legislative period .
