Petrikirche

The Evangelical Lutheran St. Peter's Church is a church in neo-Gothic style in the Hanover district of Kleefeld . It is the seat of the superintendent of the office area Hannover-southeast. Together with the Nicodemus Church, it forms a community.

history

In 1873 Conrad Wilhelm Hase built the first chapel in Kleefeld . Until 1883 the chapel community belonged to the garden church in the Marienstrasse of Hanover. It then became an independent parish and decided to build its own church.

The church building with a 59 m high steeple was built from 1899 according to plans by building officer Rudolph Eberhard Hillebrand . In 1902 the first service was celebrated in today's Petrikirche. In 1927 the parish hall was built on the site of the old chapel.

During the heavy air raid on Hanover on October 9, 1943, the church , which was hit by fire bombs , burned down . After the reconstruction in 1953, Regional Bishop Johannes Lilje consecrated the new church on October 3, 1953. In 1963 the tower was completed. In 1993 the church got a new extension. Since September 1, 2005, Thomas Höflich has been pastor at the Petrikirche and superintendent of the Hanover South-East department. Services are held in English every month.
