Rudolph Eberhard Hillebrand (born April 30, 1840 in Osnabrück , † March 18, 1924 in Hanover ) was a German architect , building contractor and urban planning inspector.
Life
Eberhard Hillebrand was born the son of a butcher in Osnabrück. After attending the high school there, he completed training in bricklaying and stone carving from 1856 to 1859 and at the same time studied three winter semesters at the building trade school in Nienburg / Weser . In 1859 he moved to Hanover, where he initially worked in the offices of the architects Ludwig Debo and Hermann Hunaeus . In the same year he enrolled at the Polytechnic School in Hanover to study architecture. After completing these studies, he was employed in the office of the architect Conrad Wilhelm Hase in 1863 . In the same year he moved to Kassel , where he attended lectures by the neo-Gothic Georg Gottlob Ungewitters at the higher trade school. After he also got a job in his office, he went on a study trip in the fall of 1864 that took him through Germany and France. After his return he worked for almost two years on the completion of projects for the suddenly deceased thunderstorm.
From 1866 to mid-1871 he was employed in the Flensburg Building Inspectorate , initially as a construction manager, later as a government master builder. In 1872 he returned to Hanover, where he married and initially worked as a freelance and self-employed building contractor. In 1883 he was entrusted with the management of the building construction department of the city building office as a town planning inspector. In 1887 he resigned from this service at his own request and then worked again as an independent architect until he died on March 18, 1924 in his house in Hanover.
According to the Baugewerks-Zeitung of December 5, 1875, Hillebrand was a member of the board of Baugewerken-Unfall, founded on September 18 and 19, 1975, together with the master mason Ernst Brauns , the architect Ludolf Schaper, the master mason Johann Christoph Fusch and the architect Gustav Röbbelen -Genossenschaft zu Hannover .
