Ludwig Debo

Heinrich Ludwig Debo (born December 16, 1818 in Hildesheim , † January 7, 1905 in Hanover ) was a German architect and university professor in Hanover.

Life

Ludwig Debo, son of a master mason, studied from 1838 to 1840 with Ernst Ebeling at the Polytechnic School in Hanover . On May 1, 1843, he was construction manager (site manager) at the Hanoverian railway administration and from 1851 to 1866 head of the technical office of the General Directorate of Railways and Telegraphs in Hanover. As the successor to his teacher Ebeling, he also became a teacher of architecture in 1851, of building construction and building materials and designing buildings from 1863, and of building furnishings, agricultural architecture and construction plans and construction management at the Polytechnic School in Hanover since 1876. In 1878 he was given the title of professor. On October 1, 1892, he retired with the rank of secret councilor .

His assistant, Wilhelm Lüer , succeeded him in October 1869 as a lecturer in architecture and ornamentation.

Debo was a friend and colleague of Conrad Wilhelm Hase and promoted the brick industrial building in Hanover. He was a co-founder of the Hanover Architects and Engineers Association and an honorary member of the Bauhütte zum white sheet .

Ludwig Debo was married to Lina geb. Schütz, their son Richard (1859–1915) was the godchild of Conrad Wilhelm Hase and later also became an architect. The daughter Marie Louise Elisabeth Debo married the lawyer Christian Oppermann .
