The Architects and Engineers Association Hannover e. V. (AIVH) was founded in 1851 by members of the Hanover Art Association. The association, based in the Hanoverian district of Misburg , at Kurz Straße 8, is a member of the Association of German Architects and Engineers' Associations (DAI) and organizes a. a. own lectures and study trips.

For decades, the AIVH was the most influential national professional association in Germany. Since 1985 the association has also held competitions for future architects and civil engineers.

history

Members of the "Architecture Council" in the Hanover Art Association , which was founded in 1842, founded the "Architects and Engineers Association of Hanover" on March 14, 1851, which only became legally competent on March 3, 1858.

In 1861 members of the association took part in the pageant for the inauguration of the Ernst August monument , whose participants are named on the Ernst August album together with those of the Hanover Art Association .

Well-known architects and members such as the royal Hanoverian court builders Georg Ludwig Friedrich Laves and Conrad Wilhelm Hase or the later city planners Karl Elkart and Rudolf Hillebrecht brought the AIVH national attention for various decades.

From 1900, however, a loss of importance occurred after the establishment of other professional associations such as the Association of German Architects . In 1918, the extensive library of the AIVH was integrated into the Hanover University Library .

During the Nazi era , the association's activities were further restricted.
