Nicolaus "Nico" Kern (born September 21, 1972 in Cologne ) is a German politician ( Pirate Party Germany ) and lawyer . He was also the European political spokesman for the pirate faction in the state parliament and meanwhile its parliamentary manager.

In May 2009, Kern became politically active for the Pirate Party. Shortly afterwards he joined the party. Initially active in Viersen and Mönchengladbach, he was a co-founder of the Nierspiraten crew . Other parliamentary initiatives concerned the introduction of a European unemployment insurance scheme, data retention , the possible privatization of the drinking water supply through the free trade agreement TTIP , the independence of the North Rhine-Westphalian public prosecutor's offices and an EU infringement procedure against the United Kingdom. He opposed the introduction of a debt brake in North Rhine-Westphalia and against (partial) privatization of federal highways within the framework of the new regulation of the federal-state financial equalization.

Together with another member of the Pirate Party, Dirk Schatz and the Düsseldorf lawyer and former Pirate Party member Udo Vetter , he reported the then NRW Finance Minister Norbert Walter-Borjans for buying the tax evaders CDs .
