Christian Oppermann

Christian Oppermann (born May 28, 1850 in Hanover , † August 2, 1911 in Recklinghausen ) was a German administrative lawyer and municipal official.

Life

Oppermann was the son of a publisher. After attending grammar school in Hanover, he studied law in Leipzig, Tübingen and Göttingen. He passed his legal traineeship in Celle and was awarded a Dr. jur. PhD. He worked as a court assessor in Hanover and Nienburg, and in 1888 he became a senator and police director in Osnabrück. Oppermann was mayor of Stade from 1891 to 1898 , then alderman in Krefeld , then mayor in Krefeld and director of the local savings bank . In 1909 Oppermann became a councilor and chairman of the income tax assessment commission of the city and district of Recklinghausen .

Oppermann married Marie Louise Elisabeth Debo on November 27, 1888, the daughter of Heinrich Ludwig Debos , professor at the Technical University of Hanover. The marriage resulted in two sons and a daughter.
