Petro Hryhorowytsch Redkin ( Ukrainian Петро Григорович Редькін , Russian Пётр Григорьевич Редкин Pyotr Grigoryevich Redkin ; born October 4, jul. / 16th October  1808 greg. In Romny , Poltava Governorate , Russian Empire , † March 7 jul. / 19th March  1891 greg. in Saint Petersburg , Russian Empire) was a Ukrainian - Russian lawyer, historian of philosophy , professor and university rector .

Life

Petro Redkin was born in Romny in what is now the Ukrainian Sumy Oblast, the son of a Ukrainian noble family. He graduated from high school in Nischyn and then studied law at the universities in Moscow , Dorpat and Berlin . Between 1835 and 1848 he was Professor of the History of Philosophy and Law at the Imperial University of Moscow and between 1863 and 1878 at the Imperial University of St. Petersburg , of which he was Rector between 1873 and 1876. From 1882 he was a member of the State Council .

Redkin was the author of several works on the philosophy of Hegel and on the history of the philosophy of law.
