Petrodolynske (Ukrainian Петродолинське ; Russian Петродолинское / Petrodolinskoje ; former German name Petersthal / Peterstal ) is a village in southern Ukraine in Owidiopol Rajon in Odessa Oblast with about 3,118 inhabitants.
geography
The village is located on the European route 87 / M 15 27 km north of the Rajonzentrum Owidiopol and 31 km west of the Oblastzentrum Odessa .
history
The German colony Peterstal was settled in 1805 on the left bank of the river Baraboj ( Ukrainian Барабой ) by about 40 to 50 colonist families from Württemberg, the Rhineland and Hungary.
The Evangelical Lutheran parish of the Peterstal colony was approved in 1812 (before that, Peterstal was part of the Freudentaler parish). Initially, services were held in the school building, later in a meat store, until a separate church was built in 1837, which was restored in 1846 and 1887. The church building is currently in ruins.
