The Petruskirche in the Rheinfeld district of Herten is a simple, rectangular church building that was built between 1958 and 1959. Since 1981 the Evangelical Petruskirche has served the community as an independent parish church.

The choir and sacristy are located in the eastern part of the main church building, which is covered with a gable roof . Separated from it is a slender bell tower , which is also covered with a flat gable roof. The bell storey is open on two sides.

A flat wooden ceiling completes the interior. The interior of the church is kept simple. In the choir there is a table altar, a pulpit and a baptismal font . A wooden cross hangs on the east wall behind the altar. The colored glass windows by Rudolf Yelin the Younger show scenes from the parable of the Good Shepherd . The church hall is furnished with individual chairs.

The three-part bronze bell with the denominations c sharp ′ ′, e ′ ′ and f sharp ′ ′ was cast in 1961 by Bachert from Karlsruhe . Next to the altar is a two-manual mechanical organ from the company Stützle (Waldkirch).
