The Peutinger-Gymnasium (often with Peutinger and PG , formerly abbreviated to "RG") is a linguistic , scientific , technological and social science high school in Augsburg . It was founded in 1864 as a secondary school and named in 1965 after the politician, humanist and town clerk Konrad Peutinger , who was born in Augsburg in 1465.
In the 2009/10 school year, the Peutinger-Gymnasium was attended by around 1,090 pupils who were taught by 94 teachers. The grammar school is a seminar school . Due to the current high number of students, the old city library was converted for school purposes.
New building
In February 2019, it became known that the city of Augsburg was examining the new school building at an alternative location. The existing school building on the Blauenkap is considered too cramped and in need of renovation. Even after renovation and expansion, the required number of rooms could not be made available. The proposal provides for a new building on the site of the former Reese barracks in the Kriegshaber district to the west. However, school operations are not expected to start before 2027.
