The Pfühlpark is a park in the east of the city of Heilbronn . It is 9.3 hectares and is located about 1.5 kilometers east of Heilbronn city center. With the green areas around the nearby Trappensee , it forms a 15 hectare green area.

description

The park extends over a length of about 600 meters along the Crailsheim – Heilbronn railway line , which borders the park in the south. The first stop on the Heilbronn urban railway branching off here is named after the Pfühlpark. In the north the Schlizstraße forms the border between the park and the residential area, in the west the Pfühlpark is bounded by the Fasanenstraße, in the east by a sports area of TSG Heilbronn . Richard-Becker-Straße (from 1926 to 1976 Linnéstraße) divides the park into a western and an eastern part.

The Pfühlbach flows through the park over a length of about 1.4 kilometers in an east-west direction. It also feeds the 0.7 hectare Pfühlsee in the eastern part of the park. At the northwestern end of the park, the stream disappears in a dole and continues underground to the Neckar .

To the west of Richard-Becker-Strasse is the greater part of the Pfühlpark. There is one of the largest playgrounds in the city and a kiosk. There are also two lawns and aviaries .

In Pfühlpark there is an older faun sculpture donated by the city from private ownership for the opening of the park, as well as two sculptures representing musicians by Wernher Eberbach from 1926 (executed by Heilbronn stonemason Ernst Bauer) since the late 1950s .

history

To the north-west of the Pfühlpark is the Pfühlbrunnen , an old spring that was remodeled in 1795 and supplemented by stone benches in 1858. In the adjacent area to the east on the Pfühlbach , the Heilbronn paper manufacturer Ernst Mayer (1850–1922) owned an estate with a zoo and a vineyard . Mayer sold the 361.6 ares large area on January 21, 1909 to the city for the very low price of 90,000 marks , combined with the requirement to create a public park here.

From August 28 to September 7, 1926, a horticultural exhibition took place in the harmony garden, for which the city decided to take over a shortage of up to 3,000 RM . Since the exhibition did not generate a deficit, but rather a surplus, the municipal council instead made the 3000 RM available on November 11th for the preparation of a plan for the design of the Pfühlpark. On December 31st, the Stuttgart garden architect Karl Siegloch received the order from the city to work out the plan. Siegloch presented the plan to the local council on March 22, 1927, which approved it in principle. The Pfühlpark was gradually created in the following years, partly as an emergency work and later with the involvement of the voluntary labor service , who relocated the Pfühlbach between the railway passage and Linnéstraße in the summer of 1932. In the following years, the Reich Labor Service laid out the Pfühlpark in parallel to regulating the Pfühlbach. In 1936, the park was finally handed over to the citizens as a public park .

From 1994 to 1996 the park was renovated together with the surroundings of the Trappensee for almost five million DM. The main focus here was on the renaturation of the waters.
