The Pfaffenberg is a 418 meter high elevation in the eastern Lusatian mountains in the Free State of Saxony . It is located on State Road 135 between Großschönau and Spitzkunnersdorf . To the west of the mountain lies the Czech town of Varnsdorf and to the east of the Hofebusch .
The mountain was formed when phonolite pierced the Seifhennersdorf basalt cover in the Tertiary . Today, its top is almost completely covered by mixed forest.
