The Roman Catholic parish church in Eberau is consecrated to St. Joseph . It stands at the southern end of the Angers of the village of Eberau ( Hungarian : " Monyorókerék ", Croatian : " Livio-Čjeka ") in the Güssing district in Burgenland and belongs to the Güssing dean's office .

history

The parish Eberau was founded before 1489, was in the meantime Protestant and later a Roman Catholic branch church dedicated to the feast of the Assumption of Mary . In 1904 the parish was rebuilt and consecrated to St. Joseph. The interior was restored in 1973/74, the exterior was renovated in 1977.

architecture

The church is oriented towards NS. The Gothic choir in the south dates from the 15th century. The nave with the tower in front of the main and north facade was built around 1745. The facade is uniformly structured by flat pilaster strips and profiled cornices and eaves . The tower is three-story and has a stone pyramid helmet. The two upper floors of the tower have corner pilasters .

The retracted choir has three bays with a 5/8 end and a sacrament niche . It is lower than the nave and has a ribbed vault made of double grooved ribs. These are stored on short, octagonal services with conical consoles . At the end of the choir there are heraldic keystones with renewed painting. The windows in the choir are narrow tracery windows. The Gothic triumphal arch with a triple fluted profile separates the choir from the nave. The nave is a typical hall building from the second half of the 18th century with a square vault between belts that rest on protruding pilasters. The three-axis gallery is vaulted under the square vault and has a curved parapet.

Furnishing

The baroque high altar dates from the second quarter of the 18th century. It consists of a column structure with a curved attachment. The high altar picture shows the Holy Family , painted by Joseph Kredisch in 1742. On the side there are figures of Saints Peter and Paul as well as Saint Barbara and Saint Anne . Above it is the coat of arms of the Erdödy family .

The side altars are much simpler. The altarpiece on the right side altar shows St. Nepomuk . It is labeled "IFSS" and dates from 1739. On the left side altar there is a picture of St. Elisabeth from 1738.

There is also a baroque carved figure of an Immaculata .

In 1967 a new organ was built into the baroque case.
