Parish church Edelschrott
The Roman Catholic parish church Edelschrott is in the market town of Edelschrott in the Voitsberg district in Styria . The church consecrated to St. Laurentius belongs to the deanery Voitsberg in the diocese of Graz-Seckau . The church and the former cemetery area are under monument protection .
history
The church was first mentioned in a document in 1245 and was incorporated into St. Lambrecht's monastery until 1786 . The current nave was built around 1780 and 1790. In 1960 the interior was restored. More restoration work has recently taken place.

The western facade of the church has a strong cornice with pilasters placed over the corner under the gable . The entrance portal has a gable with braid names in the gable field. The mighty quadratic choir tower with onion helmet and lantern has been preserved from the Romanesque previous building.
The nave is three-bay , the middle bay wider than the other two. It is spanned by a square vault resting on pillars . The pillars have pilasters with cornice capitals on three sides . The low, arched front arch is strongly drawn in. The tower yoke is now also the choir and is spanned by a barrel vault. The former Gothic 5/8 choir with a renewed vault has served as a sacristy since the end of the 18th century and connects to the east of the church tower. The old Gothic sacristy is north of the tower. The organ gallery is located in the western end of the nave and rests on a square vault. The front wall is decorated with braid names.
The high altar dates from around 1804 and has an extended altar table. The image of St. Laurentius and the statues on the high altar designed by Balthasar Prandstätter date from around 1740/1750. The Marien altar with statues from the second half of the 17th and the beginning and end of the 18th century, like the high altar from around 1804 The Joseph Altar was designed by Balthasar Prandstätter around 1740/1750. A statue of Maria Immaculate also comes from him . The pulpit was erected in the second quarter of the 18th century. The late baroque Stations of the Cross are now partially painted over. The organ was installed in the first quarter of the 18th century and later changed. A positive organ from 1680, which was repaired in 1734, was transferred from the St. Hemma branch church to the parish church in 1965 . A baroque church chair comes from the second quarter of the 18th century, the glass chandeliers from the first half of the 18th century.
