history

Interior view of the Catholic parish church hll. Florian and Bartholomew

In the place of today's church there was a previous building from the time the settlement was founded in the 11th century. The first written mention of this church comes from the year 1441. It was originally only dedicated to St. Bartholomew . In 1654, after surviving a fire, St. Florian was added as the second church patron . Around 1680 the church was enlarged and two side chapels were added. In the 18th century, galleries were built on the side walls to make room for more believers . Although the new building of the church was being negotiated as early as 1792 due to lack of space, the first detailed plans were not submitted until 1826. The construction of today's church, designed according to plans by Josef Hasslinger, was finally approved in 1845 and was carried out from 1852 after the old church was demolished. The still unfinished church was consecrated on April 25, 1863. St. Florian was made the first patron of the church. The building was completed in 1910 with the installation of today's organ and windows. Renovation work was carried out both in 1972 and in 2005.

layout

The pilaster church was built in the style of eclectic historicism . While the exterior shows neo-Romanesque forms, the furnishings are in neo-baroque style. It has a two-tower facade. On the outer wall you can find two Roman stones from the second century which come from the old parish church and were walled in in 1857. There is also a crucifix in front of the church with the mourning Mary from the third quarter of the 18th century.

The three-and-a-half bay nave is spanned by a square vault. It has two side chapels and several galleries . The windows, like the organ, date from 1910.

The high altar erected in 1857 and the pulpit erected in 1859 were designed by Jakob Gschiel . The right side altar bears a crucifixion group designed by Veit Königer from the period between 1770 and 1780. In the church there is a late Gothic statue of Maria Elend from the 17th century . There is also a devotional image of St. Franz Xaver from 1747 in the church . In addition to Jakob Geschiel and Veit Königer, the sculptors Josef Rainer, Josef Ussam and Alois Gapp as well as the painter Josef Gfrerer were involved in the interior design .
