The parish church of Grödig stands on the northwest edge of the village in the municipality of Grödig in the Salzburg-Umgebung district in the province of Salzburg . The Roman Catholic parish church , consecrated to the patronage of the Annunciation - incorporated into St. Peter's Abbey - belongs to the Bergheim dean's office in the Archdiocese of Salzburg . The church is a listed building ( list entry ).

history

A church was documented in 790 and incorporated into the St. Peter monastery. Parish since 1625 and 1883. The choir was enlarged in 1513 and consecrated in 1523. The tower was raised in 1686 and 1872. In 1805, after a fire, the church was rebuilt by 1807 and extended with a south aisle. In 1880 the church was given a neo-Gothic porch in front of the west portal. The church was bombed in 1944 and restored in 1949. 1967/1968 was a restoration.

Building

The church is surrounded by a cemetery. On the cemetery wall is the Roman stone of Grödig , a Roman consecration altar by Turbonius Fuscinus for Jupiter and all the gods and goddesses.

The nave and the tower are essentially Romanesque, the choir with a 5/8 end is Gothic. The flat vaulted ceiling of the nave shows classical stucco ornaments and is marked 1808.

Facility

The high altar

The high altar made of Salzburg marble (Adneter Rot, Schnöll, Untersberger trout marble ) and the side altar superstructures were created by Anton Högler (1809). The high altar sheet of the Annunciation was painted by Andreas Nesselthaler (1808). Assistant figures on the left are St. Anna , on the right St. Joachim . In the essay is the eye of providence .

The picture of the left, classicist side altar shows St. Joseph with the baby Jesus. It was painted by F. Streicher according to A. Nesselthaler. The painting on the right side altar is a work by Kremser Schmidt (around 1780). It was acquired by Abbot Dominikus in the Viennese art market. Depicted is St. Florian .

Further furnishings include a Sacred Heart figure, a Madonna with child and St. Verena as console statues.

The organ was built in 1840.
