The Roman Catholic parish church Litzelsdorf is located in the municipality of Litzelsdorf in the Oberwart district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to Saint Leonhard and belongs to the Pinkafeld dean's office in the Eisenstadt diocese . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

history

The parish was founded in 1789. The current church building dates back to 1823. In 1955 the exterior was restored, in 1973 the interior was restored.

The church is a large single-nave church with a retracted square choir. A three-story west tower with a pointed helmet and stucco decoration is in front of the nave.

Church interior

The nave consists of two almost square ship yokes and a gallery yoke. These are located under a wide transverse vault between belt arches that rest on pilasters . The gallery was enlarged in 1955. The triumphal arch is basket-shaped. There is a square vault in the choir.

Furnishing

The high altar comes from the construction time. It consists of an architectural frame on the apse wall, pilasters and columns. The altarpiece is an oil painting that depicts Saint Leonhard. The side altar consists of an 18th century cafeteria . The structure dates from the middle of the 19th century. The altarpiece, an oil painting, shows St. Patrizius . The picture is flanked by two carved figures depicting Saint Florian and Rochus . The figures date from the second half of the 18th century. The statue of Maria Immaculata dates from the first half of the 18th century. The original version is stripped . The pulpit dates from the middle of the 19th century. The baptismal font with a plastic group of Anabaptists comes from the middle of the 19th century. The statue of St. Jude Thaddaeus stands on the triumphal arch and was created in the second half of the 18th century. The fourteen Stations of the Cross are oil paintings that were created around 1764.

The organ was designed by Wilhelm Josef Schafranek in 1830.

Bell jar

The bell was cast in 1842 by Johann Felt from Graz .
