Parish church Oberhof (Metnitz)
The Roman Catholic parish church Oberhof in Mödring in the municipality of Metnitz is dedicated to St. Nicholas . The sacred building stands on the shady side, elevated above the valley floor at a height of 1016 meters. The church, first mentioned in 1405, was elevated to a parish church in 1787.
The church is a small Gothic building with a gable roof and turret and a western vestibule extension. The slightly recessed, slightly higher choir with five-eighth end and groin vault connects to the nave with a flat ceiling, and the sacristy to the north .
The high altar from 1672 consists of a simple aedicule over a small base and a blown volute gable with a three-pass frame as an attachment. The central picture shows St. Nicholas, the top picture shows the Annunciation .
The right side altar from the second half of the 18th century shows the holy imperial couple Heinrich and Kunigunde on the altar panel and the blessing Bishop Erasmus on the top picture . The pictures probably come from the school of Josef Ferdinand Fromiller .
The pulpit from the middle of the 18th century is decorated with figural sculpture, which is attributed to Balthasar Prandtstätter . A relief with the Good Shepherd is attached to the pulpit parapet . The crowning of the sound cover is the bust of God the Father floating on clouds in a halo.
On the console figures the church has a Saint Nicholas carved around 1420/30 as well as Saints Joseph and Anna from the middle of the 18th century. The carved apostle chandelier in the Baroque style was made in the middle of the 19th century. A baptismal font was marked 1468, but was destroyed in the course of a renovation in 1979. A popular crucifix with the instrument of suffering hangs in the vestibule . One bell probably dates from the 15th century, another was cast by Georg Fiering in 1617.
