history

The first written mention of the church comes from the year 1224. The late Gothic building was mainly built around 1550, dated on the southern buttress of the nave . In 1771 the tower was built in baroque forms. A complete restoration took place in 1969.

architecture

The church stands on a plateau elevated above the town in the former cemetery, surrounded by a former defensive wall with loopholes. Two covered staircases lead to the plateau. The churchyard is surrounded by a niche wall with loopholes. On the northeast side of the wall there is a late baroque portal that leads to the rectory.

The low, three-bay nave is spanned by a two-parallel ribbed vault that rests on protruding wall pillars. The wall pillars have polygonal templates as well as wide, undivided combat stones . The three-bay choir is slightly drawn in and has a three-eighth closure. It is vaulted by a three-parallel ribbed vault with a row of keystones , which rests on shield consoles and in the end of the choir on hexagonal supports with round services . In the north and south of the choir there are two side rooms from the first half of the 16th century. The southern room has a small entrance portal and could have been the original sacristy . A square side chapel was added on each side of the third nave yoke, the southern one above an older building. Both have groin vaults with heart-shaped stucco stucco and pearl framing . The warped and multiple grooved keel arch portal in the west of the nave and the portal to the south side chapel are late Gothic.

The present sacristy dates from the last quarter of the 17th century. In the northern part of the nave is the 19th century gallery with pointed arch openings . The three-axis organ loft, the gallery in the south and the associated staircase date from the second quarter of the 18th century. The four-storey tower with a pilaster structure has an onion helmet with a high lantern .

Furnishing

At the place of the dismantled high altar is a stone tabernacle pillar designed by Alfred Schlosser in 1975 . There is a harvest relief and a statue of the Virgin Mary on it. In the right side chapel there is a cross altar with figures made by Josef Pogner in 1774, in the left side chapel a Pankratius altar from a little earlier. The pulpit , built in 1763, was made by the South Tyrolean sculptor Veit Königer . There is a figure of Faith on the sound cover and a relief on the basket depicting Jesus and Peter. In the choir there is a Pietà from around 1520 and a Maria Immaculata from the mid-18th century. At the end of the choir there is a coat of arms tombstone from 1679. On the left gallery is a portrait of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary , which was painted in 1831 by A. Weißenfeld.

The organ dates from 1962.
