Catholic parish church of St. Martin in Steinerkirchen on the Traun

The Roman Catholic parish church Steinerkirchen an der Traun is located in the municipality Steinerkirchen an der Traun in the district of Wels-Land in Upper Austria . It is consecrated to St. Martin and belongs to the Deanery Pettenbach in the Diocese of Linz . The building is a listed building .

history

The church is first mentioned in a document in 1179. The choir was built in 1516.

Church building

Church exterior

The building is a small late Gothic church. The late Gothic church tower is massive and has a baroque bell chamber. Above it is an onion helmet . The south portal is richly deceased . A star-rib vaulted vestibule is built in front of it. A chapel is built on the south side of the church.

Church interior

The church has a single nave and five bay nave. Above it is opposite ribbed vault . The choir is 2½ yokes long and ends in the 3/8 end. The west gallery is triaxial and broken once. The gallery rests on net and star rib vaults . In the 2½-yoke chapel to the south there is rib vaults.

Furnishing

The high altar originally comes from the Minorite Church in Wels , where it was erected around the middle of the 18th century. In 1786 he was transferred to Steinerkirchen. The essay group " God the Father " originally comes from the parish church of Kematen an der Krems and was created in the 1680s. The altarpiece is from the end of the 17th century. The tabernacle is classicist . The side altars and the pulpit date from around 1800. The altarpiece on the left side altar shows the "beheading of St. Catherine ". It was painted by Anton Hitzenthaler in 1800 . The top paintings date from the middle of the 17th century. The altar of the south chapel was created at the end of the 19th century. It is flanked by figures of Saints Joachim and Anna on rococo consoles . The figures were created around 1700. In the south chapel there is another baroque figure of Saint Roch from the first third of the 18th century. In the choir there are two other figures of Saints Telesphorus and Nicholas . These figures were created at the same time as the figure in the southern chapel. In the nave hangs the picture “ Maria Krönung ” from the end of the 17th century. It is the former top picture of the high altar. There are also three death shields from 1520, 1524 and 1529 in the church.
