Parish Church of Stinatz

The Roman Catholic parish church of Stinatz is located in the center of Stinatz ( Hungarian : " Pásztorháza "; Croatian : " Stinjaki ") in the Güssing district in Burgenland . It is consecrated to Saints Peter and Paul and belongs to the Deanery Güssing .

history

The parish was founded in 1790. The current church was built between 1815 and 1819. It was expanded for the first time in 1882. Another renovation took place in 1971/72.

Architecture and equipment

The chancel of the church

The church is a large building with a slightly retracted choir and a western facade tower. Originally the church was single-nave. In more recent times, the north aisle and an extension on the south wall of the first choir bay were added. The nave is three-bay with square vaults between belts that rest on wide pilasters , as in the choir bays, in the apse there is a bowl vault.

The high altar was built in 1883, another side altar dates from the beginning of the 19th century. To the left and right of the tabernacle with a bell-shaped roof are wooden figures of St. Joachim and St. Anna .

On the north wall there is a figure of the Madonna, which was created around 1700, a former column figure. In 2019 the church was renovated inside and out.
