The Roman Catholic parish church of Tux is located in the Lanersbach district in the municipality of Tux in the Schwaz district in Tyrol . It is consecrated to St. Thomas and belongs to the dean's office in Fügen-Jenbach in the diocese of Innsbruck . The building is under monument protection ( list entry ).

The church is surrounded by a cemetery.

history

The church was built in 1465. In 1517 she was raised to chaplaincy. In 1686 the church was rebuilt by Georg Sieberer . In 1891 the parish was raised.

Church exterior

The church is a baroque hall building with a Gothic steeple that comes from the original church. The pointed helmet was renewed in 1756. The two southern portals and the west portal are chamfered in the late Gothic style.

Church interior

The nave has four bays. The one-yoke choir has moved in and closes in the 5/8. The west gallery is supported by late Gothic pillars. The nave is barrel vaulted over the consoles . The band work piece dates from the years 1737 to 1739. The frescoes in the choir show the "Glory of St. Thomas". In the ship, “Saint Thomas puts his hand in the side wound of Jesus”, the “ Assumption of Mary ” and the “Sermon of Saint Thomas” are depicted. There are also eight saints in grisaille pictures in the choir and 14 in the nave by Johann Endfelder from around 1830.

Furnishing

The high altar is a baroque double columned altar from around 1740. The altarpiece shows St. Thomas. In the upper picture the Holy Family is shown. The pictures are attributed to Johann Georg Grasmair . The figures of Saints Peter and Paul were made around 1740. The altarpiece on the left side altar shows Saint Francis Xavier . It is flanked by figures of Saints John and Paul. The figures were made around 1740. On the right side altar is a picture of Saint Aloysius from around 1850. The figures represent Saints Georg and Florian . The figures date from around 1750. The image of Saint George in the choir is Johann Attributed to Georg Grasmair. The pulpit was created around 1830. In the nave there are figures of Saint Isidore from 1790, Ambrose from 1740 and a guardian angel from the 18th century.
